Girls & Sex: Understanding consent…and beyond – with Peggy Orenstein

March 31, 2021, 10:00 am - 11:00 am, Live Webinar,

As more and more stories of girls’ and young women being sexually assaulted are brought to light, the ultimate question is —what can be done to prevent such atrocious acts? Education on consent has been highlighted as a major issue and pressure is now been placed on schools to review their sex education content. However education on consent, whilst important, is only one small step in tackling this problem.

Internationally renowned US author and speaker Peggy Orenstein will conduct a session for Alliance members discussing the sexual landscape young girls face today: the pressures to see self-objectification as self-empowerment, the influence of mainstream media and pornography, the definition of “affirmative consent” (and what may undermine its practice) and the promotion of healthy sexual expression.

Join us for this important session, offered free for Alliance members.
