In these uncertain times, characterised by numerous challenges, it is important that young people have meaningful opportunities to share their thoughts, concerns and aspirations to shape policy and services that are important to them. Mission Australia’s Youth Survey is the largest annual survey of young people in Australia. The online survey is open to all young people between the ages of 15 and 19 and takes just 15 minutes to complete.
Results of the 2021 Youth Survey indicated 41.9% of young people are concerned or extremely concerned about mental health, while 38% are concerned about the environment and climate change. Unfortunately, gender discrimination persists, with females (41.4%) less likely to report being extremely or very confident in achieving study or work goals than males (53.9%).
The 2021 reports, along with the Seven Year Youth Mental Health Report, are available to download from: https://www.missionaustralia.com.au/publications/youth-survey.
After the excellent informative data gleaned from both the 2017 and 2020 Mission Australia’s Youth Survey, the Alliance has once again requested an organisation-level report compiling the anonymised and aggregated results of all member schools participating as individual schools.
Schools participating in Youth Survey 2022 will receive a copy of the national Youth Survey report, as well as a complimentary individual school report comparing your school to state-level results, provided a minimum of 100 students complete the survey using your school’s unique code. The Alliance can then request for your anonymous data to be included in our member schools report, without precluding you from generating your own individual school report.
Recent alumnae of girls’ schools aged 18 and 19 can also take part in the survey by using the Alliance’s unique code:
The Alliance’s unique code for the 2022 Mission Australia Youth Survey: 99001.
At the conclusion of the survey, the anonymised and aggregated results from individual Alliance member schools — as well as responses from alumnae who used the Alliance code — will be combined to produce an organisation-level report, providing members with timely and relevant insights into the wellbeing and concerns of students and recent alumnae of girls’ schools across Australia.
