2021 Exchange Opportunities within Australia and New Zealand
With COVID-19 travel restrictions likely to impact international school exchanges in 2021, the Alliance is facilitating connections between our member schools in New Zealand and Australia interested in exploring exchange opportunities together.
To assist Alliance member schools to connect and arrange their own Australasian exchanges we’ve set up a contact database. Simply explain the kind of exchange you’re interested in: even if you’re in the early stages of considering possibilities, just provide as much information as you can — staff &/or students; hosting &/or traveling; duration; numbers; and your contact details. View other schools’ exchange proposals and contact those that interest you.
Ascham is an Independent, non-denominational girls Prep to Year 12, day and boarding school.
We have a reciprocal arrangement with about 10 overseas school where about 30 of our girls exchange with each year. Due to COVID-19, this is not happening. Thus, we would like to provide a range of exchange opportunities for our girls within Australia.
If your School is interested in a reciprocal exchange arrangement for Year 10, 2021 girls for approximately four to six weeks in 2021 please contact me.
We run a stringent selection process that involves submitting a CV and attending first and second-round interviews. It is from there we select the best ambassadors for our School to go on exchange.

St Aidan’s is a K-12 Anglican Girls’ day school located in the south-western suburbs of Brisbane. We currently have annual exchanges with schools in Adelaide, Hobart, USA, South Africa and the UK. All our exchanges are reciprocal with visiting students staying with the family of the student with whom they exchange. As our girls travel unaccompanied, a minimum of two girls participate in each of these exchanges.
We typically run our domestic exchanges in either Terms 2 or 3 of Year 8/9 for 10 -14 days depending on destination; however, duration, times and number of girls involved are negotiable. Our Year 10 exchanges are between 3 and 4 weeks in length. We prefer for both legs of the international exchanges to be completed by the end of Semester 1. The number of girls involved is negotiable.
We are interested in fostering long-term relationships with either day or boarding schools in Western Australia and New Zealand.

St Peter’s Girls’ School is an independent ELC to Year 12 Anglican and International Baccalaureate World School located in Stonyfell, just 5km from Adelaide’s CBD.
We usually run our exchanges in Term 3 of Year 9 with the exchange partner returning to spend time at Saint’s Girls in Term 1 of Year 10. Exchanges are typically of 4 – 6 weeks duration with the exchange partner’s family hosting the student throughout their stay.
Girls typically travel in groups of 2 – 5 and are accompanied by a teacher who stays for the first week while they settle in. This gives the teacher an opportunity to spend time observing lessons and getting to know staff in the exchange school.
We are flexible with the timing and would like to hear from anyone who would be interested in setting up an exchange for their Year 9 girls.

Tara Anglican School for Girls is an ELC to Year 12 day and boarding located in North Parramatta, Sydney.
We would consider a variety of options. Currently girls travel individually or in small groups to other schools around the world, mostly Europe and Japan, so we would probably look for something similar but we are also happy to consider other options and are happy to host exchange students, when restrictions allow. Our ideal year level would be Years 9 or 10 if they are not accompanied by a teacher from their school.
