2021 Exchange Opportunities within Australia and New Zealand

With COVID-19 travel restrictions likely to impact international school exchanges in 2021, the Alliance is facilitating connections between our member schools in New Zealand and Australia interested in exploring exchange opportunities together.

To assist Alliance member schools to connect and arrange their own Australasian exchanges we’ve set up a contact database. Simply explain the kind of exchange you’re interested in: even if you’re in the early stages of considering possibilities, just provide as much information as you can — staff &/or students; hosting &/or traveling; duration; numbers; and your contact details. View other schools’ exchange proposals and contact those that interest you.

Please use THIS FORM to submit your exchange proposal. It may take up to 48 hours for your submission to appear live on our website. To remove your proposal at any time contact [email protected]

If you have any questions, please contact Loren Bridge.

St Aidan’s is a K-12 Anglican Girls’ day school located in the south-western suburbs of Brisbane. We currently have annual exchanges with schools in Adelaide, Hobart, USA, South Africa and the UK. All our exchanges are reciprocal with visiting students staying with the family of the student with whom they exchange. As our girls travel unaccompanied, a minimum of two girls participate in each of these exchanges.

We typically run our domestic exchanges in either Terms 2 or 3 of Year 8/9 for 10 -14 days depending on destination; however, duration, times and number of girls involved are negotiable. Our Year 10 exchanges are between 3 and 4 weeks in length. We prefer for both legs of the international exchanges to be completed by the end of Semester 1. The number of girls involved is negotiable.

We are interested in fostering long-term relationships with either day or boarding schools in Western Australia and New Zealand.

The College
Mount Carmel College is a Catholic school for girls and young boys that has, since 1942, encouraged a love of life and learning. At the heart of our mission is the rich heritage we have inherited from the Sisters of Charity, and which we proudly acknowledge, a heritage of service and commitment to social justice. Mount Carmel’s beautiful setting and outstanding facilities provide an inspiring environment for all of our students. The College enrols boys and girls from Kindergarten to Year 2. Our girls’ only environment from Year 3 to Year 10 supports girls to take intellectual risks and to focus on excellence in achievement. We understand that girls will thrive in a learning environment where they are known, valued and affirmed, and our commitment is to place a conscious emphasis on this.

The Opportunity
Mount Carmel is interested in a teacher exchange program with a mainland or New Zealand school for approximately 1 week in order to establish key connections, build professional networks and explore opportunities.

St Peter’s Girls’ School is an independent ELC to Year 12 Anglican and International Baccalaureate World School located in Stonyfell, just 5km from Adelaide’s CBD.

We usually run our exchanges in Term 3 of Year 9 with the exchange partner returning to spend time at Saint’s Girls in Term 1 of Year 10. Exchanges are typically of 4 – 6 weeks duration with the exchange partner’s family hosting the student throughout their stay.

Girls typically travel in groups of 2 – 5 and are accompanied by a teacher who stays for the first week while they settle in. This gives the teacher an opportunity to spend time observing lessons and getting to know staff in the exchange school.

We are flexible with the timing and would like to hear from anyone who would be interested in setting up an exchange for their Year 9 girls.

Perth College is an Independent Anglican day and boarding school for girls located in Mount Lawley, an inner northern suburb of Perth, Western Australia. We are a K-12 School that values positive education, this underpins the confidence of our students and staff to continually stretch themselves.

We are looking to extend our Student Exchange Program to include a larger number of Australian schools and particularly schools in South Australia, Northern Territory, Tasmania and regional Western Australia. Our exchange program is currently accessible to students in Years 8, 9 and 10, and we are hoping to connect with schools who would be interested in exchange programs for these year groups. Visiting students would stay with the family of the student whom they exchange with, with exchange sisters of our Boarding students being able to experience staying in our Boarding House.

We are interested in creating opportunities for single student exchanges as well as larger group exchanges, with durations of 1 – 4 weeks.

Further, we are keen to establish relationships with schools in the hope of creating staff exchange opportunities. These can be run alongside the Student Exchange Program, or independently, and we would be interested in creating this opportunity for staff from both the Primary and Secondary sectors.

Tara Anglican School for Girls is an ELC to Year 12 day and boarding located in North Parramatta, Sydney.

We would consider a variety of options. Currently girls travel individually or in small groups to other schools around the world, mostly Europe and Japan, so we would probably look for something similar but we are also happy to consider other options and are happy to host exchange students, when restrictions allow. Our ideal year level would be Years 9 or 10 if they are not accompanied by a teacher from their school.
