Columba College is a day and boarding school for girls from Years 7 to 13 with a co-educational Junior School (Years 0 to 6). The College has a total roll of 565 approved by the Ministry of Education. Boarders are accepted from Years 7 to 13, and International students contribute cultural diversity and an international dimension to school life.

The Years 7 to 13 learning programmme is kept broad and follows the New Zealand Curriculum. Senior girls work towards academic qualifications that prepare them for tertiary education and their future careers. The College uses the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) qualifications at Levels 1, 2 and 3, and New Zealand Scholarship.
