Brigidine College is an Independent Catholic secondary school for girls (Years 8 – 12) owned by the Brigidine Sisters. It is situated in an inner western suburb of Brisbane with students drawn from the local area and all suburbs between Brisbane and Ipswich. The current enrolment is 670 students. The students come from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, with around 20% of parents of a language background other than English. Brigidine College, established in 1929, has a proven record of providing quality and affordable education for the empowerment of girls. Its core values are to: be faithful to the Catholic heritage; welcome all people, especially the most vulnerable; celebrate all that is good with joy and gratitude; engender a love of learning, hope and a sense of purpose; and, to image and practise justice and service. The College provides a range of curriculum pathways to meet the diverse learning needs and career aspirations of its students. This is supported by extensive co-curricular programmes in sports, performing arts and public speaking. Formal and very comprehensive pastoral care and social justice programmes are provided. All students participate in practical experiences of serving the wider community.
