St Scholastica’s College is a Good Samaritan Girls’ Catholic day and boarding school. St Scholastica was the twin sister of St Benedict who founded the Benedictines in the 6th century. Our community recognises and respects the dignity, individuality and culture of each person, providing a learning environment which nurtures independent thinkers. Each student is encouraged to take responsibility for her learning in a positive environment which offers an education in faith and the freedom and responsibility to learn. At the heart of the College are our values: compassion, justice, wisdom, learning, harmony, balance, hospitality and stewardship. Our commitment to social justice and our central values of compassion and justice are inspired by the parable of the Good Samaritan in the Gospel. Our curriculum reflects the Good Samaritan Educational Philosophy, which draws on the strength of the Benedictine tradition encompassing appreciation of beauty and cultural plurality, reverence for the earth and its resources, hospitality of heart and place and the seeking of peace. Our students develop the values, skills, creativity, technological fluency and problem solving required for living in the 21st century, so that they become young women who will make a positive difference in the world.
