St. Monica’s College is a Catholic secondary school for young women catering for day or boarding students, Years 7 to 12, located in the heart of Cairns.

Our students are highly regarded in the local community as creative, multi-talented, learners and leaders who have a proven capacity as young women of both action and compassion. We challenge each student to ‘Walk in the path of justice’ as St. Monica’s College follows the Mercy charism which stresses the importance of shared ministry, concern for the marginalised, disadvantaged and other areas of social justice. This is realised by the important religious rituals within our welcoming, close and inclusive college community and by encouraging our students to reflect on the gospel values in their daily lives. We stress the values of faith, integrity, self-belief, courage, mercy and community.

We encourage our students to develop the skills of self-motivation and flexibility required of 21st century learners in an increasingly complex global society. They are ably partnered in this by our dedicated and caring staff to achieve academically, engage in sporting and cultural activities, while being firm in their faith and committed to social justice issues and community service. The college has a 125 year plus tradition and the students feel a genuine sense of belonging to this community where young women are prepared for life-long learning.
