Mater Christi College is a school of Good Samaritan Education for girls, located in Belgrave, at the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges. The College respects the traditions and spirit of its founders, the Sisters of the Good Samaritan and strives to be organisationally and educational innovative to meet the learning needs of students. The core values of love of Christ and neighbour, hospitality, stewardship, community, humility, justice and peace, discipline, obedience, stability and prayer are fostered through a dynamic student-centred environment.

We strive for authentic learning, excellence in all things, mindful decision-making and restorative justice. With an enrolment of over 1000 students including up to thirty full fee paying international students from the Asia-Pacific region, Mater Christi encourages life-long learning, international mindfulness, tolerance and reliance. Mater Christi College’s experienced and highly qualified staff are committed to the welfare of each student, embracing an education rich in diverse opportunities, quality innovation and personalised care.

The comprehensive curriculum offerings are supported by outstanding facilities and resources emerging from a contemporary technology infrastructure. Pathway opportunities are available to our senior students, VET, VCAL and VCE. Our Middle Years Program of the International Baccalaureate provides the curriculum framework for girls in Years 7-10, based on holistic learning, inter-cultural awareness and communication skills through five areas of interaction, Approaches to Learning, Environments, Community and Service, Health and Social Education, and Human Ingenuity.

Girls are challenged to develop 21st century skills and knowledge as well as individual talents through a wide range of sporting, cultural and community activities. The College has a strong reputation in enhancing creativity and nurturing intitiative, especially through its visual and performing arts programs. Students respond positively to a diverse range of team and individual sporting competitions and embrace opportunities offered in outdoor education. A Leadership Certificate program encourages girls from Year 7 onwards to embrace leadership experiences throughout their secondary years. The College supports the curriculum with a range of proactive co-curricular programs designed to develop each girl’s sense of self and to foster a mindful connection to each other and the global community.

As part of the mission of the College, girls are encouraged to respond generously and courageously through social justice programs to offer support to others who are marginalised or disadvantaged.

Girls are challenged, encouraged and supported to become informed, creative and compassionate global thinkers.
