This year has been one of unprecedented change and numerous challenges. In times like this it is important that young people have meaningful opportunities to share their thoughts, concerns and aspirations to shape policy and services that are important to them. Mission Australia’s Youth Survey is the largest annual survey of young people in Australia. The online survey is open to all young people between the ages of 15 and 19 and takes just 15 minutes to complete.
The information gathered is used to produce a national report which is distributed widely to schools, community organisations and policy makers. The 2019 Youth Survey report — which, for the first time, asked young people about their experiences of bullying — along with the Seven Year Youth Mental Health Report, are available to download from: https://www.missionaustralia.com.au/publications/youth-survey.
Schools participating in the 2020 Youth Survey will also receive a complimentary individual school report comparing their school to state-level results, provided a minimum of 100 students complete the survey using their school’s unique code.
Recent alumnae of girls’ schools aged 18 and 19 can also take part in the survey by using the Alliance’s unique code:
Alliance of Girls’ Schools Australasia
Youth Survey 2020
Unique Code: 46620
At the conclusion of the survey, the anonymised and aggregated results from individual Alliance member schools, as well as responses from alumnae who used the Alliance code, will be combined to produce an organisation-level report, providing members with timely and relevant insights into the wellbeing and concerns of students and recent alumnae of girls’ schools across Australia.
Mission Australia’s Youth Survey 2020 is now open via www.missionaustralia.com.au/youthsurvey. The Alliance would like to encourage member schools to become involved by going to Mission Australia’s website to download the Youth Survey Toolkit and register to participate by completing the Principal Consent Form. (Please take careful note of the consent requirements, which vary according to whether schools belong to the government, independent or Catholic sectors.)
The survey will remain open until 14 August 2020. To find out more, contact [email protected]
