In our world of thigh gaps and bikini diets, schools have a role to play in promoting safe and healthy eating and weight management behaviours in girls.
Dr Rick Kausman, has worked tirelessly since the late 90s to educate Australians about the dangers of dieting and the importance of focusing on the right “W” (wellbeing, not weight) in long term healthy weight management. He has recently partnered with Mentone Girls’ Grammar School to develop a pilot program that adopts these principles within a whole-school, whole curriculum approach.
In this session, Dr Natalie Bassat, who consults at Dr Rick Kausman’s practice, will explain the principles of Dr Rick’s approach to healthy weight management and body acceptance. Dr Rick Kausman will be in attendance and will be available for questions at the end of the session. This is an exciting and educational seminar, and a rare opportunity to speak directly to the Australian pioneer of the person centred, non-dieting approach to weight management, as well as to find out more about how the approach might benefit the students at your school.
Come along to enjoy this fascinating talk, light refreshments and networking with colleagues.
