This year International Women’s Day celebrates embracing equity, diversity and inclusion.

Guest speaker

Our guest speaker for this event is honorary Alliance member and renowned educational leader Karen Spiller OAM CF.

QUT Council Member and recently retired Principal of John Paul College, Karen has had an extensive history leading girls’ schools and joins this event to share her insights and experiences of more than 40 years in education.

Ticket pricing includes sparkling wine on arrival and a delicious two-course meal.

Individual tickets as well as tables of 10 are available to purchase on a first come first served basis. If you are interested in reserving a full table, please simply book in multiples of 10 and tables will be allocated to your school.

Karen Spiller OAM CF

Karen has leadership experience in both co-educational and girls’ schools spanning over 30 years. She was appointed Principal of John Paul College in 2018, prior to this Karen was Principal at St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School, for 18 years.

Karen is the current Chair of Independent Schools Queensland (ISQ), a member of Independent Schools Australia (ISA) Board, and the Board of Yalari. Karen was recently appointed to the QUT Council, where she is also a member of the Finance and Planning committee. She is a previous National Chair of AHISA and the Alliance of Girls’ Schools.

In 2011 Karen was awarded a Churchill Fellowship, ‘To examine strategies for preparing female leaders for the position of Principalship in Australian Schools.

In 2017, Karen was awarded a Medal of Order of Australia Queen’s Birthday Honours for her service to women, and to education. In 2019 she received the prestigious national Nganakarrawa award presented by ACEL for Excellence in Educational Administration.
