Engaging girls in sport – the opportunities and challenges | Webinar panel discussion

August 9, 2022, 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, Live Webinar,

Girls’ schools provide unparalleled opportunities for students to experience and become involved in sport. Research tells us that girls are more likely to participate in PE and sport at a girls’ school because, without boys, they feel less self-conscious and face less gender stereotyping. However, research also shows that participation drops off in the senior years of high school.

Join us for a panel discussion on:

  • How can schools keep girls engaged in sport throughout their schooling
  • What the long term benefits of consistent sports participation are
  • What tools can schools use to improve the sports experience for students, parents and staff

The panel will be led by esteemed sportswoman and educator Pauline Harvey-Short OAM, and includes:

  • Kirby Short, Deputy Principal MacGregor State High school, sports commentator and former professional cricketer
  • Michelle Barry, Active Schools Support Service, ACHPER Victoria, and Board member, School Sport Victoria Advisory Committee
  • Rob Cooper, Director of Sport at Lauriston Girls’ School

This event is free for all members, please REGISTER HERE.

We are pleased to partner with Clipboard EMS for this event.

Clipboard is an Extracurricular Management System (EMS) that streamlines the organisation of all extracurricular activities from sport to the performing arts, creating a seamless experience for staff, students, and parents.

An EMS is a purpose-built system designed to support the extracurricular program, which is a vital part of the student experience, and often a key differentiator for why a parent chooses a school. While it is widely accepted that a school has a Learning Management System (LMS) to assist with the delivery of the curriculum, most schools don’t have an EMS leaving schools to use a combination of disparate systems. This creates a lack of visibility, exposing a school to child safety risks and data security breaches. Plus, by using multiple systems it costs staff time double handling information and creating a disconnected student and parent experience.

Clipboard is a leading EMS and one of Australia’s fastest growing EdTech companies, working with almost 100 of Australia’s independent schools. Schools love Clipboard for its ease of use and mobile friendly design, its ability to integrate with existing systems and its simplified implementation and ongoing personalised support.
