The Alliance of Girls’ Schools Australasia together with Mentone Girls’Grammar School will once again co-host the annual Science Breakfast for Science students in Years 11 and 12. All Alliance member schools are invited to participate in this special event being held for National Science Week. Students will join with women who represent many different branches of science to discuss the impact, study pathways, and career opportunities that exist across the scientific arena and become part of a developing network of women in Science.
In 2017 we welcome Dr Obranovich who is well known to the Australian biotech industry through, amongst other activities, her efforts on behalf of the sector in lobbying the Federal Government on issues relating to the patenting of genes in Australia.
Dr Obranovich has a distinguished career as a Registered Patent Attorney and acts for several significant Australian biotech companies. She is also heavily involved in education in the IP profession at the University of Melbourne, and is a member of the Professional Standards Board for Patent and Trade Marks Attorneys.
Through this event, we are working together to positively influence young women to pursue careers in the broader STEM disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
