Gender composition and female school choice
An Austrian study has found that “in more female environments, girls are less restrained by gender stereotypes and are more likely to consider traditional male school types and careers” (Schneeweis & Zweimuller, 2012, p. 497). The results of this study have implications for the underrepresentation of girls in STEM, which will be explained fully in the upcoming In Alliance magazine.
